Week 6 Hear Me Roar: Discussion Questions

Hello sisters! Wow, what a week this study has been! We can see the affects of femism everywhere we look in our culture today. We had a great discussion Monday Night and really enjoyed digging into day 2 and 3. On day 2 the author says, “I think of women who have ben influenced by the world’s model of womanhood. They lack discernement, and discretion; they see nothing wrong with being flirtatious, using suggestive or coarse language, carrying on covert Facebook exchanges with old boyfirends, wearing clothing that exposes or empasizes private parts of the body, or numeous other “wild” patterns. In some cases, they are ignorant or naive of what the Bible teaches. In other cases, they are more interesed in fitting into the world than in honoring and reflecting the Lord. Some of them have already shipwreced their lives and the lives of others; others may be well on the path to doing so.”

Here are some discussion questions. You can share your thoughts and comments here, write them down in your book during your quiet time or discuss them with another sister doing the study with you. These all come from the homework.

  1. Can you identify any ways in which feminism has influenced or shaped our attitudes, values, behavior, or your thinking about womanhood?
  2. Read Proverbs 7:6-27 in your Bible. What are some behaviors and characteristiscs of the Wild Thing that stand out to you in this story? What do these qualities reveal about the Wild Thing’s heart and her relationship with the Lord?
  3. According to 1 Peter 3:4, how does the Lord feel about true womanhood? How do you need to adjust your attitude toward womanhood so that it matches His?

We are currently experience some technical difficulites and will share our week 6 discussion from our Monday Night group soon. Please let us know how we can be praying for you!

True Woman 101: Week 6 Hear Me Roar

Hello dear sisters and welcome to week 6 of our study. I can’t help but think of our recent election after studying this week. On page 139 the authors say, “Women’s Issues” become a hot topic in politics – with legislators pushing the Equal Rights Amendment, abortion rights, reproductive rights, divorce rights, affirmative action, pay equity, public day care, and other efforts to “advance” the rights of women.” An article was shared with me this week that is very fitting for our study. It screams feminism and is a great example of the worldview, the complete opposite of God’s Divine Design. Click here to read the article from The Washington Post titled What does President Trump mean for feminists?

Day 1 page 140, “Did feminism identify some valid problems? Yes. Did it propose some helpful changes? It likely did. Can feminism be embraced along with our Christian faith? Absolutely not. Why not? Because it introduces a subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) distortion into the way we approach gender and male-female relationships. It contains truth, but it also contains some powerful and destructive lies.” What are your thoughts? Do you agree?

Day 4 page 154 & 155, “In October 2009, Time magazine devoted an entire issue to “The State of the American Woman.” One writer pointed out that, ironically, as women have gained more education, more economic independence, more power, and more freedom, they have become less and less happy. According to evidence gathered by numerous surveys, they are unhappier now than when the feminist movement set about to solve the problem of women’s unhappiness. Clearly, the new model of womanhood is even less fulfilling than the old one was. The solution isn’t to try to rewind the clock to the 1950’s and squeez women back into that culture’s “Leave It to Beaver” stereotype. No. The solution – the biblical solution – is to embrace the Word of God, and ask Him to help us figure out how to live out His divine design in this culture. Truly “smart girls” know that the place to get more know-how, freedom, and joy is in a relationship with Christ – the One “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col.2:3)” Do you personally see women becoming less and less happy? What about your family, friends, you? I pray that we will be women who look to Christ for how how to live out His divine design for us.

Week 5 Battle of the Sexes: Discussion Questions

Hello dear sisters! I hope you have been enjoying the study as much as we have. This week as we’ve learned how sin has affected the male-female relationship. ” God created the sexes to live in oneness and harmony. But sin changed all that. Sin damaged woman’s inherent softness. Sin also damaged man’s inherent strength. Sin twisted and distorts gender and creates pain in the male-female relationship. It pits male and female against each other.

Here are some discussion questions. You can share your thoughts and comments here, write them down in your book during your quiet time or discuss them with another sister doing the study with you. These all come from the homework.

  1. Is there a relationship, sin, or struggle for which you need hope and deliverance?
  2. Read Revelation 21:4 in the margin on page 123. What are some attitudes and/or behaviors in relationships that induce pain, which you would like to see “pass away”?
  3. Where do you see men in your sphere of relationships “battling” against the pain of manhood?
  4. How do you feel when a girlfriend confides to you about how she’s been hurt by a man in her life?

“The problem in the male-female relationship isn’t men. It’s sin. And sin is something that affects women just as much as it affects men. Men and women may sin in different ways, but the truth of the matter is that All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Women are not innocent. Women are sinners. Women can’t fix sin. So we can’t fix men. And we can’t fix the male-female relationship. But Jesus – the Lamb of God – is willing and able to cover our sin and clothe us with His righteousness. He will help get manhood and womanhood right.” How could our marriages and other male-female relationship improve we as a True Woman really understood this?

We had a great discussion in our Monday Night group. Click here to see our video. I hope you enjoy it! Please let us know how we can be praying for you!

True Woman 101: Week 5 Battle of the Sexes

Hello sisters welcome to week 5: Battle of the Sexes. This week we learned the painful consequence of sin that bring trouble to the male-female relationships. We are all affected by this battle that came about as the result of the fall.

I wanted to share a paragraph from day 1 on page 119. “In this fallen world, we all experience the brokenness of sin, but God wants us to focus on His hope and deliverance, and to rely on His power to overcome the Serpent and his schemes.”

On day 2 the authors discuss how Eve took matters into her own hands. She didn’t acknowledge her husband who was standing by her side, she didn’t consult him, ask his input or direction, she simply acts. “She took and ate it” Genesis 3:6 NIV. I don’t know about you but I have definitely been guilty of this. I encourage to include your husbands, seek his advice and counsel. If you are single, seek direction from godly men in your life when situations warrant it. Seek the counsel of our Heavenly Father. Don’t fall into the sin like Eve.

Because of sin “you will have the urge to control, resist, oppose, and act against your husband. Whereas you were intended to function as one – in harmony, in peace, in unity – there will be a barrier between you. Instead of following your husband’s lead and pulling together with him in seeking to serve and glorify God, you’ll have the inclination to grab control of the reins and independently go your own way.”

Are you working together with your husband in seeking to serve and glorify God?

Divine Design Study

Hello dear sisters! Our Monday Night group did not meet on Monday, October 17th. Some of us attending Revive Us, a prayer event with Kirk Cameron. We recognize time is valuable and being out two nights in a week can be challenging. So we took last week off. I hope this was a good time for you to get caught up if you needed to, spend time digging deeper into the study, or extra time in prayer. Who can’t use extra time in prayer…I know I can!

In addition to our Monday Night group not meeting on the 17th we also didn’t meet on Monday, October 24th. Some of our sisters could not make it because they were not feeling well. So this week I will share some additional study resources for our study and will begin our usual posts on Monday, November 7th. I hope you enjoy these addition resources.

Revive Our Hearts Radio has a lot of great programs on this very topic we’re studying. I would like to highlight just a few of them.

The Gospel Is A Love Story

Why Did God Create Male and Female?

The Desire To Control

Please let us know if you’re still with us in the study and what you think of it so far. What has God been placing on your hearts these last few weeks? Let us know how we can encourage you and pray for you!

Lastly, Revive Our Hearts has a radio with lots of great programs on this very topic we’re studying. This week I would just like to highlight one called The Consequence of Lies. Click here to read or listen to the program.

We will be taking next week off as a break. This will time for you to catch up if need be or spend some additional time in prayer for our country. This is in fact what some of our sister in our Monday night group did on the 18th. Because it can be difficult to commit to multiple evenings during the week, we did not meet on the 17th. We will be back with week 5 beginning Monday, October 31st.

Week 4 Snake in My Garden: Discussion Questions

Hello dear sisters! I hope you have been enjoying week 4 of our study.  “God is “calling you out” to take responsibility instead of blaming others. Through humility, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, you can counteract your natural tendency to play the blame game. Freedom comes from taking responsibility for our choices – the things we listen to, thoughts we dwell on, how we choose to respond – and from looking to Christ for forgiveness, mercy, and grace.”

We had a great discussion in our Monday evening study! Though it was a small group, we were missing some of our sisters.

Here are some discussion questions. You can share your thoughts and comments here, write them down in your book during your quiet time or discuss them with another sister doing the study with you.

  1. Why do you think Satan is eager to destroy the kinship, commitment, unity, communion, authenticity, and purity of male-female relationships?
  2. Think of a situation or circumstance where you were tempted to view sin as harmless, attractive, and promising. What are some of the consequences we experience in our relationship with God and others when we buy in to Satan’s lies and go for his offers?
  3. Why do you think Satan may have made his pitch to Eve instead of Adam?
  4. What are some ways in which an “us verses them” mind-set shows up between male and female in contemporary culture?
  5. How do you think a woman’s behavior might change if she had a stronger sense of “we”in her marriage?

“The Lord wants the marriage relationship – and the relationship between males and females in general – to showcase the kinship, commitment, unity, communion, authenticity, and purity that are the hallmark of His relationship.” How can we as a True Woman display these characteristics in our relationships?

Since we were missing some of our sisters on Monday evening we did not do a taping session. Please click here to enjoy this video with Mary called A True Woman Chooses Wisdom. We appreciate your understanding and being flexible with us. Please let us know how we can be praying for you!
