Week 7 Total Makeover: Discussion Questions

Hello sisters! I hope you’ve enjoyed this week of our study. Our Monday Night group especially enjoyed day 4. “According to 1 Peter 3, the disposition of a truly beautiful woman is gentle, quiet, and amenable (that is, agreeable, submissive, honoring proper authority.”

“Gentleness isn’t self-abasement. It’s the mark of the wise woman who remains calm even in the face of other people’s shortcomings. Gentleness is a “tree of life” (Proverbs 15:4). David noted that it was God’s gentleness toward him that “made him great” (2 Samuel 22:36 &37).”

“A quiet spirit is the opposite of an anxious, distressed, disorderly, and clamorous one. Quietness goes hand in hand with trust. “In quietness and in trust shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15). Both are a result of righteousness: “the result of righteousness is quietness and trust forever” (Isaiah 32:17).”

“An amenable woman says “Yes, Amen!” to input. She responds positively to guidance and direction. She welcomes it. A godly woman is a “lead-able” woman.”

Here are some discussion questions. You can share your thoughts and comments here, write them down in your book during your quiet time or discuss them with another sister doing the study with you. These all come from the homework.

1. What are some ways in which a woman might demonstrate a sincere and pure devotion to Christ?
2. Read 1 Peter 3:4-6 and describe the type of disposition that Peter associated with godly womanhood.
3. When you encounter a difficult or challenging situation, do you respond with “gentleness” or “loudness”? What do your responses reveal about your heart?
4. Which aspect of a womanly disposition do you find to be the most challenging: gentleness, quietness, or amenability? Why and how can you grow in this trait?

We had a great discussion in our Monday Night group. Click here to see our video. I hope you enjoy it! Please let us know how we can be praying for you!

True Woman 101: Week 7 Total Makeover

Hello dear sisters and welcome to week 7 of our study. I can’t believe we’re almost done. Even more so, I can’t believe it’s Thanksgiving. “For the past two weeks, we’ve been considering how sin damaged and marred the beauty of true womanhood. Womanhood needs a total makeover. Culture tried to give it one. But it failed miserably. That’s because it didn’t consult the right expert. It didn’t enlist the help of the One who has the knowledge and power to set things right. God’s Son, Jesus Christ, died in order to break the power of sin’s grip on us. He’s the ultimate makeover artist. He  enables us to reclaim the beauty of who God created us to be. He’s the expert on manhood and womanhood. In this week’s lesson we looked at how the gospel of Christ redeems (rescues, saves, and makes over) true womanhood from the ugliness of sin.”

On day 1 we were asked to write out a prayer asking the Lord to do a beautiful, complete work of restoration in your life. I hope you’ve taking the opportunity to do so.

On day 1 the authors use the restoration of a great masterpiece, the Madonna del Cardellinon as a spiritual parallel.  After the restoration process was complete it was found to be more beautiful than the orginal.  On page 167 the authors say, “No matter how greatly sin has damaged your life…no matter how many dull, ugly layers of paint and veneer you may have applied in an unsuccessful attempt to cover the cracks…no matter if the colors are faded or the picture is so obscured that you can barely see the original…God is in the restoration business. He is a great, redeeming God who is making all things new, through the work of Christ on our behalf. His divine power and love can re-create and restore your life to its original design – that beautiful work of art intended to display the loveliness of Christ!

You can share your thoughts and comments with us here, jot them down in your book during your quiet time or discuss them with another sister doing the study with you.
