True Woman 201: Week 1 Discernment

Hello sisters welcome to week 1 of our online Bible study; True Woman 201: Interior Design by Mary Kassian and Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth (Nancy Leigh DeMoss). We are so excited you’ve decided to join us for this study!

As you work through week 1 be sure to check in here for additional posts. If you get behind that’s okay, the posts will always be available here.

I want to share a paragraph from the authors in the introduction. “The Lord is the ultimate Designer. And He has a divine design for womanhood. He wants to come in and do a radical renovation of your heart. He wants to change you from the inside out. If yo let Him, He’ll give you an extreme makeover…a brand-new interior design. The change won’t take place overnight. But the outcome – a heart and character like His – will be grander than anything you could possibly have envisioned, better than anything you could have done on your own. And it all starts with trusting Him enough to hand Hi the keys to your heart, asking Him to make a beautiful work of art out of your life. And it doesn’t end there. God wants to use you as part of His make over team to help others experience His grand, interior design for their lives!”

This study is a great addition to the first study, True Woman 101: Divine Design though can be completed without having done the first study. However, we would highly recommend going back through the first study when you have the opportunity. The posts from True Woman 101 are still here on the blog so you can watch our videos with your sisters, read our posts and watch True Woman 101 videos. Lots of great resources were shared so take a look so you can enjoy the whole picture about womanhood.

Once you’ve completed the homework for this week click here to watch the True Woman Week 1: Discernment video.

Come back on Wednesday for our Discussion Questions. You can share your thoughts and comments with us here, jot them down in your book during your quiet time or discuss them with another sister doing the study with you. Please let us know how we can pray for you throughout the study. Have a great week!

Hello Sisters Loved by God,

We are very excited to begin our next study, True Woman 201: Interior Design by Mary Kassian and Nancy Leigh DeMoss!  “But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine…Older women…are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.” Titus 2:1, 3-5

This 10-week study kicks off the week of February 6, 2017 and will cover the ten important elements of redeemed womanhood found in the New Testament book of the Titus. The Lord wants to do a radical renovation of your heart. Won’t you consider joining us?  We will have videos, scripture, and questions for you to consider during your quiet time with the Lord. We have been praying for God’s blessing on this study and for each of you!

Week 8 Sisterhood is Powerful: Discussion Questions

Hello sisters! We had a great discussion on week 8 in our Monday Night group. I hope you are finding this study just as valuable as we have. “God has fashioned and equipped us a women to be “mothers,” to bring forth godly fruit for His glory and for the advancement of His kingdom. There is no higher calling or more vital responsibility.”

Scripture makes it clear that God did create women with a unique “bent”and responsiblility for the home. Marrried ro single, women cna glorify God by creating warm, inviting spaces that are conducive to welcoming and nurturing life.”

Here are some discussion questions. You can share your thoughts and comments here, write them down in your book during your quiet time or discuss them with another sister doing the study with you. These all come from the homework.

1. What opportunities has God placed in your current life situation to “joyfilly mother children”?
2. How does the meaning and value that the Bible places on woman’s domesticity differ from the meaning and value culture places on it? Does God’s design for women to be welcoming keepers of the home call for any adjustments in your heart and /or habits? Explain
3. How would you explain to someone that woman’s design to be a helper to man is a high, noble calling, rather than a demeaning or inferior role?
4. How well are you filfilling your mission to “pass the baton” on to the next generation? Stop and ask the Lord if there are any futher ways He may want you to be invesing in the lives of younger women.

True Woman 101: Week 8 Sisterhood is Powerful

Hello dear sisters and welcome to the last week of our study. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for and now we begin to celebrate Christmas. Oh what a beautiful time of year it is! A time to remember and reflect on the coming of our Savior! I just began reading Because of Bethlehem by Max Lucado. FaithGateway is doing a 4 week online study for Because of Bethlehem. Click here if you’re interested learning more.

What an awesome week of study this was. Our topics say it all, aim to be fruitful, aim to be welcoming, aim to be helpful, aim to leave a legacy, and aim to make a difference. I don’t know about you but I want to aim for all of those! Here are some quotes from the authors for each day.

Aim to be fruitful! “God gives us different gifts and callings. The gift of marriage is not given to every woman, nor is the gift of bearing children. It is not a given that every woman will marry, or that every married woman will be able to bear children, or that every woman ought to bear as many biological children as she possible can. What IS a given is that ALL women are called to be spiritually fruitful. The Lord wants all women – including single and childless women and women past childbearing age – to have a “household” and be the “joyful mother of children.”

Aim to be welcoming! “This world is a messy, chaotic place. But we have the privilege of creating a home environment that makes people long for heaven. Whether married or single, our goal as women is to create a place, physically and spiritually, that beckons and welcomes people “home.” A place that ministers to their needs – where they can find comfort, healing, rest, love, and a sense of belonging. A peaceful nurturing place here they can retreat to renew their hearts and be untroubled. A place that gives them a sense for how wonderful our eternal home will be.”

Aim to be helpful! “But we are never more like Jesus than when we are helping and serving others. And if a woman’s help results n God’s ultimate purposes being fulfilled, her work is vital, no matter how “small” the task may be.”

Aim to leave a legacy! “The biblical pattern for womanhood involves passing the baton of faith to the next generation. It requires that we first model what it means for women to be filled with the Spirit and to live in accordance with sound doctrine (Titus 2:1). It also requires that we proactively teach the upcoming generation what True Womanhood is all about, and how to live lives that reflect the gospel of Christ.”

Aim to make a difference! “We believe it is time for a different kind of a women’s movement – a quiet counter-cultural revolution of those who stand against the tide of culture and dare to delight in God’s design. Our prayer is that by the power of His Spirit, godly women will ward off the destruction of gender, sexuality, male-female relationships, morality, marriage, and family, and will use their influence to impact their communities for good and for godliness. Only God knows how great will be the ripple effect of that influence – for generations to come.”

Week 7 Total Makeover: Discussion Questions

Hello sisters! I hope you’ve enjoyed this week of our study. Our Monday Night group especially enjoyed day 4. “According to 1 Peter 3, the disposition of a truly beautiful woman is gentle, quiet, and amenable (that is, agreeable, submissive, honoring proper authority.”

“Gentleness isn’t self-abasement. It’s the mark of the wise woman who remains calm even in the face of other people’s shortcomings. Gentleness is a “tree of life” (Proverbs 15:4). David noted that it was God’s gentleness toward him that “made him great” (2 Samuel 22:36 &37).”

“A quiet spirit is the opposite of an anxious, distressed, disorderly, and clamorous one. Quietness goes hand in hand with trust. “In quietness and in trust shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15). Both are a result of righteousness: “the result of righteousness is quietness and trust forever” (Isaiah 32:17).”

“An amenable woman says “Yes, Amen!” to input. She responds positively to guidance and direction. She welcomes it. A godly woman is a “lead-able” woman.”

Here are some discussion questions. You can share your thoughts and comments here, write them down in your book during your quiet time or discuss them with another sister doing the study with you. These all come from the homework.

1. What are some ways in which a woman might demonstrate a sincere and pure devotion to Christ?
2. Read 1 Peter 3:4-6 and describe the type of disposition that Peter associated with godly womanhood.
3. When you encounter a difficult or challenging situation, do you respond with “gentleness” or “loudness”? What do your responses reveal about your heart?
4. Which aspect of a womanly disposition do you find to be the most challenging: gentleness, quietness, or amenability? Why and how can you grow in this trait?

We had a great discussion in our Monday Night group. Click here to see our video. I hope you enjoy it! Please let us know how we can be praying for you!

True Woman 101: Week 7 Total Makeover

Hello dear sisters and welcome to week 7 of our study. I can’t believe we’re almost done. Even more so, I can’t believe it’s Thanksgiving. “For the past two weeks, we’ve been considering how sin damaged and marred the beauty of true womanhood. Womanhood needs a total makeover. Culture tried to give it one. But it failed miserably. That’s because it didn’t consult the right expert. It didn’t enlist the help of the One who has the knowledge and power to set things right. God’s Son, Jesus Christ, died in order to break the power of sin’s grip on us. He’s the ultimate makeover artist. He  enables us to reclaim the beauty of who God created us to be. He’s the expert on manhood and womanhood. In this week’s lesson we looked at how the gospel of Christ redeems (rescues, saves, and makes over) true womanhood from the ugliness of sin.”

On day 1 we were asked to write out a prayer asking the Lord to do a beautiful, complete work of restoration in your life. I hope you’ve taking the opportunity to do so.

On day 1 the authors use the restoration of a great masterpiece, the Madonna del Cardellinon as a spiritual parallel.  After the restoration process was complete it was found to be more beautiful than the orginal.  On page 167 the authors say, “No matter how greatly sin has damaged your life…no matter how many dull, ugly layers of paint and veneer you may have applied in an unsuccessful attempt to cover the cracks…no matter if the colors are faded or the picture is so obscured that you can barely see the original…God is in the restoration business. He is a great, redeeming God who is making all things new, through the work of Christ on our behalf. His divine power and love can re-create and restore your life to its original design – that beautiful work of art intended to display the loveliness of Christ!
